So, in the past week I went from doing nothing and having no inspiration to having photo shoots, contests, and ideas coming out of my ears.
Breakin it downtown:
Photo Shoots and the Most Important Shoot of the Year1.
First Photo Shoot Ever: Stephanie Cheung My friend :caffienated-zombie: is an amazing designer, a great friend, and, as I found out today, a drop dead amazing model.
We went out and had an adventure in Georgetown, shooting her amazing designs for around 3 hours.
The shoot already has a ton of sentimental value to me, as it was my first and it was for a friend who is growing very near and dear to me.
ContestsHoly Zeus' lightning, where do I even start?
If I talked about the dA contest's it'd go on for ages, so here are the national one's I'm working on.
1.
Teens and Reading I decided to take two roots on this and see what I like best.
Take the typical library shot and put my spin on it
or go completely unconventinal.
2.
Heritage/Culture Photomontage10-30 shots on your culture/heritage. Or someone else's.
So, how am I going to stray away from all the cliche and typical entries?
I don't want to portray history. Or another country's lifestyle that's in my blood. No family traditions. No "A Day In the Life of Me."
Damnit I'm doing my life, my time, right now. To me, that's culture.
I've decided I'm going to do life of my generation in DC.
DC is constantly overlooked, and when it does get portrayed, all you see is doom, gloom, ghettos, and hopelessness.
That is not DC. I'm so proud to grow up in a place where I have access to hundreds of places.
I don't want to hide the truth of DC, but there is so much beauty in this place, and in theses ghettos, that no one sees.
DC teens grow up knowing the raw truths of the world. It's evil, and it's good.
The youth of DC are just as unique as our home.
I'm going to show what we do.
Where we go. Who we are. What we say. What we see. What we feel.
I'm titling it "Youth of the Nation: A Real Look Into the Lives of DC Teens," or something like that.
I'll figure it out.
I'm hoping it's as good of an idea as I think it is.

The Most Important Assignment of the YearThe WCAC Football championship is a huge deal in the DC and Maryland.
Our brother school, DeMatha Catholic High School, has the greatest number of former players in the NFL, and will be attempting their 7th consecutive title tomorrow at 2.
This is a HUGE game; It's hosted at the Naval Academy and covered by ESPN, Th Washington Post, and every local newspaper you an imagine.
I am the only student photographer that was given an all access press pass.

I'm extremely excited.
If I do well, I could possibly get freelance work.
I nearly die just thinking about it.

Other Sports ShootsOn Monday, I'll be shooting my school's swim meet. I'm excited to shoot an new sport.
I'm also setting up some killer shoots with our varsity basketball team.
I've been taking photos for my boyfriend (Giuseppe)'s school lately for their yearbook and newspaper.
They really need some help, and I'm there all the time, so I'm down.
Today I shot the wrestling team's first match.
Giuseppe did very well.
My Secret SeriesI'm coming up with my very own photo series.
It is well, secret.
All I will say is that it's surreal.
Stay tuned for it, I'm incredibly excited about this one.
----------------------------------------------------------------I have my plans set down for every last one of these shoots, but of course I won't say a peep about any of it.
If I did, I'd spoil all the fun.

These will all be posted to my Gallery.
I'll be sending journal entries out when they are if anyone feels like giving them a look.

Until then,
-

I like praise but I LOVE constructive criticism.
No need to thank me.
